The Magnificent Monopostos 1923-1951
by Simon Moore. 886pp in two volumes with a black slipcase, published by Parkside, 2014. A limited edition of 1,000 published, edited and designed by Malcolm Harris. This is the third in a series of Alfa Romeo trilogies by the author, who had started this book with the intention of covering just the single seaters from 1931 to 1940, but uncovered so many previously unpublished photographs from the 1923 to 1930 period, that he decided to incorporate these years as well. The work was expanded further to cover the Tipo 158/9 until Alfa's retirement from Grand Prix racing in 1951. The pre-war racing history of the 158 cars in the voiturette category are also covered in detail. A large number of previously unpublished photographs cover the post-war period with technical detailed notes rather than covering each race singly, which had already been covered in previous books. The photographs are a delight and the text detailed and readable. In excellent condition.
