Written by Belloc and edited by Geoffrey Holme, it is a limited edition, numbered 545 of only 1250 copies printed. This text discusses the road use of England and the development of the roads, discusses the vehicle from as Roman times until the invention of the motor-car. Illustrated throughout, with numerous plates of various vehicle types. The work also examines the development of the roads, bridges and the wheel. Hilaire Belloc was an Anglo-French writer and historian. He was a prolific 20th century author who penned works on many different subjects. Bound in green full cloth, with gilt titles to the spine and front board. Pages are generally bright and in unusually good, clean condition.
