Potter, Beatrix. The Pie and the Patty Pan, early edition, coloured plates, illustrations, the front free-endpaper inscribed 'Betty. From Mother November 1917', original brown boards, round pictorial coloured paper label on upper cover, with an original printed glassine dust-jacket, some loss to foot of spine and lower edge, but otherwise crisp, 8vo, London: Frederick Warne and Co, [c.1917] [Quinby 9A] A RARE EARLY DUST-JACKET IN THE POTTER SERIES. This example would seem to conform to Quinby 9A, with the dedication on the verso of the half-title lacking punctuation as expected. However, the glassine wrapper would appear to be unrecorded by Quinby. The last work of the list of titles printed on the jacket would appear to be Tom Kitten's Painting Book, published in 1917.

“Amongst the things that have impressed me most are -your Expertise (knowledge based on experience - it’s either that, or research) which enabled you to identify items which deserved a place in the Fine Art Sales, where several went on to achieve spectacular figures. -your lotting. The way some items are lotted together, but something similar, but of higher value, is lotted on it’s own, or is put with some items of similar interest but much lower value. -your realistic guide prices. It all adds up to a seriously impressive service ! Many thanks to you and your team.”
