The Rev. William Henry Brookfield (1809 - 74) became a friend of Alfred, Lord Tennyson while at Trinity College, Cambridge; the poet wrote a sonnet on his death. Mrs. Brookfield was born Jane Octavia Elton, daughter of the sixth baronet, a niece of Henry Hallam, and the model for Amelia in Thackeray's Vanity Fair.
