QUEEN VICTORIA: The Great Seal of the Realm. A large wax seal depicting Victoria throned, the reverse with her seated side-saddle on a horse, the border bearing the text 'Victoria dei gratia Britanniarum regina fidei defensor', some minor loss of wax, silk cord (cut), 16cm diameter, in tin box, 19th century.
The Great Seal is attached to the official documents of State that require the authorisation of the monarch to implement the advice of the Government. In this example, the document has since become lost.
