Lot 436

A c1901 Brown & Smith 'White Star' Acetylene Gas Lamp.  Like the Lucas' first model 'Luminator' this is a sandwich-format lamp with the water reservoir fitted between the burner housing and carbide of calcium bowl. This is an example of their third model which, although offered until 1903, probably ceased production in 1901 when the Kentucky factory was offered for sale. Fundamentally complete with its rear mounting bracket, adjustable head, original nickel-plating and burner. 8¼-inches (21cm) high. AGL 129.
