Lot 373

A c1910 H. W. Abel Jr 'Adler' Acetylene Gas Lamp.  From manufactories in Frankfurt and Berlin, this novel 'Eagle' design was created from pressed brass with significant detail to the crouching eagle and the rock on which it is standing. The water is contained in the body of the bird-of-prey, and the carbide of calcium in the threaded container below. The crown unscrews to allow water to be poured in. The burner head and rear bracket are correct and work well. A rare lamp, ECL 138. 8½-inches (21cm) high.
