Lot 371

A c1895 George Polkey 'The Little Fire Ball' Oil Lamp.  Patented in 1892 and manufactured until 1905, a unique design that attempted to produce a light that would not be extinguished by wind or draft, the flame completely enclosed by glass. In fair condition, the original glass shade has cracked, and the yoke tightener is missing, otherwise sound, 5-inches (13cm) high. Also, a German made lamp with similar principles in mind, a 'Feuerhand Superbaby 175', being a combination hand lantern and bicycle lamp, with a side lever to raise the glass shade for lighting. ECL 65. (2)

“Sale on Tuesday, pay on Wednesday and parcel arrives on Thursday. Can't ask for more. I was expecting to wait quite a lot longer, as I know you have lots of requests for pack and send. Very grateful and also very impressed.”
