* Goulborn (1818-1897) was educated at Eton and at Balliol College, Oxford. He was ordained in 1842 and became headmaster of Rugby before taking on a number of clerical roles throughout England, including Dean of Norwich, before finally retiring in 1889. He was an impassioned Conservative and a firm adherent to traditional orthodoxies within the Anglican church.
