John Hicks, architect. A group of plans and drawings for the new Parish Church of Admiston (now Athelhampton), Dorset, comprising 22 drawings on linen and 4 on paper, dated between October 13th 1860 to October 21st 1861, some with the architect noted, various sizes, but most 50cm x 60cm, evidence of damp, rolled or folded (26) The writer Thomas Hardy was employed with John Hicks of Dorchester between 1858 and 1862, during the period these plans were developed. Of the church, Pevsner cites Goodhart-Rendel, who describes it as 'a pert little nave and chancel with an ugly bellcote', Dorset, p.83. It is not known whether Hardy worked on the designs this building.
