Loosely inserted is an ALS from Osbert Sitwell, Renishaw Hall, July 18th 1943, "My dear Rector" [Dennis Silk's father the Rev. Dr. Claude Whitehall Silk was vicar of nearby Eckington] thanking him for conducting the memorial service [following the death of Sir George Sitwell on 9th July 1943 in Locarno, Switzerland], "We were all of us much touched and pleased; and I do not like to let the occasion pass without expressing the thanks of myself and my brother and sister." 2pp., 4to. With another undated note from the same to Dr. Silk.
A similar proof copy was presented to the Royal Collections Trust by Sir Osbert Sitwell in 1946.
