A FINE WALNUT HARPSICHORD BY ALEC HODSON OF LAVENHAM WITH LINKS TO BENJAMIN BRITTEN. A double manual harpsichord by Alec Hodson having a compass of five octaves with seven pedals, the case with an internal metal brace, signed 'Alec Hodson Lavenham Suffolk Fecit ANNO MCMLIII' above the keys, the walnut case with allover chequered stringing, the lid with broad strap hinges, 290cm x 111cm wide, 94cm high. Sold with a copy of 'Benjamin Britten' by Alan Kendall, London 1973, which includes an image of a harpsichord of 1953 at Aldeburgh which is believed to be this Harpsichord.
