A RARE & INTERESTING NORTH COUNTRY PROVINCIAL WINE LABEL
oblong with a linear border & incurved corners, incised 7 filled "MADEIRA" by George Lowe, with full Chester hallmarks for 1805 and further marks for Samuel Herbert & Co., London 1751; 2.2" (5.5 cms) long; 0.5 oz
*This must be a pure case of recycling old silver, the Chester label must have been made from a redundant piece of small plate (ie. a cream pail or small basket for example) fashioned into this label & sympathetically re-marked.
