* The lanes near the artist's 17th Century home in Ludham were a convenient and enduring inspiration for Seago. He bought The Dutch House in 1947 and lived there for 27 years until his death. A very similar image, from almost the same viewpoint and dating from 1950 but lacking any figures, was sold at Sothebys London on November 15th 1978 (lot 128)
