The auction of the property of Cardinal Joseph Fesch (1763-1839), Cardinal Archbishop of Lyon, took place on March 17-18th at the Palais Ricci, Rome. The remarkable collection had once comprised over 16000 pictures in total (not all were sold at auction), perhaps the most notable being Leonardo's `St Jerome in the Wilderness` and Raphael's `Mond Crucifixion`
