* After an original drawing by Rubens, 28 x 43cm, c.1620 (British Museum, London). In 1842, John Sell Cotman died and was succeeded by his son Miles as the drawing master at King's College, London. This drawing may date from between 1836 (when he first assisted his father at King's College) and c.1852 when he returned to Norwich due to failing health.
