LANCASTER:-
A Victorian copper Jubilee medal, 1887 by Messrs. John Pinches, in capstan brooch mount together with a circular oak snuffbox, the lid inset with an engraved medallion of the facade of the Old Priory Church and the base with a view of John O'Gaunt's Gateway, c.1830's and stating the wood to be from the Well Tower of Lancaster Castle; the former 3.75" (9.5 cms) diameter (3)
*The label on the latter reads, below an image of John O'Gaunt's Gateway, "This Box is made of Part of the principal Beam that supported the Roof of the Well Tower of Lancaster Castle, which was built and put up in the year 306 and taken down and a new Beam replaced in the year 1834".
