A LATE C19TH CHINESE HAN WEDDING SKIRT
Made from a heavy silk satin,coral colour with front and back panels embroidered in satin stitch and peking knot (forbidden stitch), depicting peonies, an auspicious bat and in the centre an elephant with a vase of flowers on it's back. The skirt is pleated with black satin insets and embroidered with flowers, within borders of embroidered and gold couch work on a black ground. The skirt is lined in a blue silk with a cream muslin waistband. (some damage) 39.5" x 44" (1)
