A LATE C19TH CENTURY JAPANESE WEDDING KIMONO. A damask cream silk kimono woven with flower symbols and hand embroidered with very fine satin stitch and gold couch work depicting the Japanese rooster symbolising good fortune and gain, in wonderful rich colours, reds, greens and gold. Gold couch work, Japanese knot and hand-painted black lattice work. The kimono is lined in red silk with a padded hemline. The original sash belt is missing. 65" long (1)
