SCRATCH BUILT STEAM LOCOMOTIVE - COMMODORE DAVID POSTON
a scratch built 2 1/2" gauge LMS 2-6-4 locomotive, made in the 1920's/1930's by Commodore David Poston O.B.E. The heavily made locomotive constructed in brass, copper and steel, not quite finished and has probably never been fired. Also with letters of provenance and a photograph of David Poston. 67cms long
*Commodore David Poston M.B.E spent most of his life at sea, and was the Commodore Engineer of the Cunard subsidiary known as the Port Line, their cargo/passenger liners worked out of the UK to the USA, Australia, and New Zealand. He ceased making the locomotive when war broke out in 1939, when he has involved with the Atlantic Convoys, and moved onto a smaller gauge railway system when he returned.
