RARE BEIJING PINK OVERLAID WHITE GLASS TRIPOD CENSER
Qing Dynasty, Qianlong period, the rounded body rising to a waisted neck and stepped rim with two upright loop handles. Carved to the side with a design of scrolling flowers below a band of lappets at the shoulder, the pierced wooden lid with carnelian lingzhi finial and with a wooden stand. This was part of a collection bequeathed to Bristol via the National Art Collections fund in 1950. It had been purchased by H E Burrows Abbey mostly from Bluetts between 1933 and 1949.
*The collection label relates to Francis Emile Andrews (1858-1943), 'FE' was a well known collector whose collection was continued by his grandson John who established the John Andrews Charitable Trust.
