A collection of medals celebrating the capture of the Portobello in 1739 by Admiral Vernon. Admiral Vernon became a popular hero due to his naval exploits and these medals are typical of the numerous examples produced with a standing figure of the Admiral on the obverse and a fleet of ships on the reverse. 4cm and similar.
