A Great War pair comprising War and Victory Medals named to R-39836 Pte W.D. Smith K.R.Rifle C. Records seem slightly confused for Walter Smith. A Walter D. Smith with this number is recorded as serving between 7/12/15 and 4/9/18 with the King's Royal Rifle Corps neing discharged due to sickness and awarded a silver war badge number B5645 at the age of 29 years and 66 days. A slightly older Rifleman W.D. Smith with number 39836 served for 10 months with A Company the 16th (Service Battalion (Church Lads Brigade), King's Royal Rifles before suffering with Pyrexia in April 2018.
