A FIRST WORLD WAR PAIR AND WAR BADGE TO A DORSET MAN. A Great war pair comprising War Medal and Victory Medal named to SS7719 H.G. Collis Ord R.N. Ordinary Seaman Herbert George Collis was born on the 23rd of February 1898 in Dorchester, the son of George and Eliza of 54 Maiden Newton. He served in the Royal Navy from 6/10/16 until 10/7/1919 at both dates he is recorded at HMS Victoy, with Greenwich, Dido and others between these dates. He was issued with a War Badge number RN40624 in 1919. After the War he is recorded living in Yeovil with a wife by the name of Gladys, working as a house decorator. With a collection of cap badges to include Scottish regiments and others.
