AN UNUSUAL BASTIN FRERES BREECH LOADING RIFLE.
A French Military percussion firing breech loading rifle with an 85cm barrel, the lever beneath the barrel sliding the barrel forward of the percussion firing action. Marked to the lever 'Bastin Ftrtrs Brevetes 1223' and 'Acter', the barrel with mounts for a sight and bayonet, the butt with stamped marks 'TA beneath a Crown' and a similar mark dated 1872. With later trigger guard engraved with hunting scenes. 125cm.
