A HIGHLAND SOCIETY MEDAL IN SILVER 1801. A Highland Society medal for the Egypt Campaign of 1801, under General Sir Ralph Abercromby. He commanded the landings at Aboukir Bay in March 1801 against strong French opposition. On the night of the 21st march the French made a surprise attack on the British Camp, General mAbercromby was hit by a ricochet and died aboard the Flagship, seven days later. Silver awards were mainly to senior officers and those who distinguished themselves in the Campaign. This example is unnamed as issued, with the Highland Society London around the rim.
