AN 18thC GENTLEMAN'S SMALLSWORD. A silver mounted gentleman's smallsword with a rapier type triangular blade of 32.1/2" in length. The ornate stirrup hilt and partial guard, lacks the silver wire to it's wooden grip. Hallmarks W.K and Year letter for (1774) are on the quillions, W .K (William Kinman a listed silver hilt maker) and the lion are on the damaged guard. The throat silver mount of the missing scabbard is on the blade, Bennett Royal Exchange is punched on it. John Bennett of the Royal Exchange, known for fine Flintlock Pistols and high standards of workmanship. Circa (1771-1800)
