A NGS MINESWEEPING/MID GROUP OF SIX MEDALS. 1939/45 Star, Atlantic, Africa with bar North Africa 1942-43, Italy Stars. War Medal with MID Oak Leaf. Naval General Service Medal 1915-62 with bar Minesweeping 1945-51 officially named to T/Lt R H Powell RNVR. Richard Henry Powell. A specialist in Minesweeping Duties. Shown in 1942 Lists as serving on M M S 65 S/L In 1944 shown as O/C M M S 65. Shown in 11/4/1945 as serving In Command of M M S 272. Retired List 1946. Mention in Despatches London Gazette 14/6/1945 Page 2975. Issue 37119. Captain of HMS Motorised Minesweeper 65 Pennant J565, launched July 1942. CO from September 1944 until January 1945, sold to Turkey in 1946. MMS 65 Launched in 1943, CO from the 11th April 1945 until 20th February 1946. Pennant number J 772. Both vessels were Class 1 Minesweepers.
