A DEVONS 1914 CASUALTY TRIO & PLAQUE. A framed 1914 Star & Bar, British War & Victory Medals, named to 9708 Pte W R Clarke 1/Devn.R. Private Walter Reginald Clarke was born, educated and enlisted at Honiton. Devon. Proceeding to France with the 1st Battalion Devonshire Regiment, on the 22nd August 1914. He was Killed in Action 27th October 1914. The Battle of Festubert, where his Battalion was to suffer many casualties. Very few of the Officers who landed with the Battalion in September, remained with them. Pte Clarke was the brother of Gertrude Clarke of 38 Bathwick Street, Bath. Aged 20 years old, buried in Plot 3, Row A, Grave 16 in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery. France. With the Kings Letter and photocopied details.
