* Port Cornwallis is on Ross Island off the North East coast of North Andaman in the Bay of Bengal. Colebrooke was a soldier, surveyor and draughtsman who assisted Alexander Kyd with his survey of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in 1789-1790. Colebrooke succeeded Kyd as Surveyor-General of India from 1800-1808. A similar subject was sold at Christies London, October 23rd 2012, lot 472 and another is in the collection of the India Office Library (M. Archer, British Drawings in the India Office Library, 1969, vol. I. p. 143.)
