SOMERSET & M.C.C CRICKET INTEREST - GOLD CUFFLINKS & BROOCH, J.C.WHITE
an interesting pair of gold and enamel cufflinks, given by the M.C.C (Marylebone Cricket Club) to J.C.White for the tour of South America 1926/1927. Also with a gold brooch mounted with two gold and enamel cufflinks, inscribed From Tennyson to J C White (Somerset Deputy Capt).
*J C (Farmer) White (1891-1961) was a former Somerset and England Cricket Captain, who toured with the successful England touring side to Australia in 1928/29. The brooch could have given by Lord Tennyson (England and Hampshire Cricketer) to White after the tour of 1928/29 as a gift, as the brooch shows a Kangaroo.
