of squat circular form with a flaring foot and a wavy rim, decorated around the bowl in relief with a trailing briar rose against a hammered ground and signed "L.Movio 1905"*, by Henry & Arthur Vander, London 1905; 9.2" (23.4 cms) diameter; 23.9 oz
*Latino Movio (1858-1949) born in Milan into a metalworking family, moved to London in 1891. A skilled metalworker & chaser, he worked as a journeyman for various firms before linking up with Gilbert Marks until the death of the latter in 1905. In the 1911 census he is described as an artist in metal repousse and a silversmith's factory worker.
