SCOTTISH EBONISED BRACKET CLOCK, the movement late 18th century, the silvered 7" dial with date aperture and false bob aperture beneath Strike Silent and seconds subsidiary dials and inscribed Robt Penman/Burntisland, on a brass, twin fusee, eight day movement with crown escapement, hourly striking to a bell, the case, possibly later, with high caddy top, brass finials and applied decoration, with winder and pendulum, height excluding handle 50cm Footnote: Burntisland a Royal Burgh and parish in Fife, Scotland, on the opposite side of the Firth of Forth to Leith, Edinburgh and lies approximately 11 miles to the east of Dunfirmline. Robert Penman is recorded as being a clock maker in Dunfirmline in 1820.
