* After the original of 1825, which had been commissioned by King George IV and painted when Canning was Secretary for Foreign Affairs. Canning was briefly Prime Minister from April 1827 until his death in the August of that same year. The prime version, in the Collection of HM The Queen, is 238 x 148cm.
