MARY CONSTANCE CLARKE (Fl.c.1839-1886) A SELECTION OF DRAWINGS AND WATERCOLOURS comprising topographical subjects, many in monochrome, (Hastings, Hythe, Folkestone, Dundee, Godeberg, Loches, Rhineland and elsewhere); various figure subjects, including studies of children; and an assortment of other studies, to include some works by other artists, including an Edwardian sketchbook by a later hand, five framed, plus approx 100 additional leaves, various sizes (a lot) * Clarke was a niece of Charles Stokes, J. M. W. Turner's stockbroker and patron. Miss Clarke had independent means and lived with her brother's family but travelled extensively in Europe in the 1850's and 1870's.
