SCRIMSHAW SPERM WHALE TOOTH - SOUTH SEA ISLANDS probably Fijian or Samoan, carved with the word Tinatina, length 16cm *This item was acquired by the vendors Grandfather in 1934/35 while in command of HMAS Australia, which was making a tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Samoa with the Duke of Gloucester on board. The tooth was probably a gift to him by a Fijian or Samoan (Tinatina means Grandmother or Aunt) *This scrimshaw comes with a CITES Article 10 licence certificate, No 560223/01.
