A DURS EGG PERCUSSION PISTOL.
A large percussion holster style pistol with octagonal 10" barrel inlaid with gold bands and underslung ramrod. Of heavy construction with chequered grip, stell furniture and silver escutcheon plate. The engraved action and side hammer, have D Egg amid the foilage. 15.1/2" overall length.
Durs Egg was a celebrated London Gunmaker, working between 1770 and 1834 holding the Royal Warrant of the Prince Regent, later George 1V. From 1834 a descendant D I Egg carried on the business until 1865.
