A ROYAL NAVY ARTILLERY VOLUNTEER OFFICERS SWORD. An unusual sword by Silver & Co of London, with Naval mounts and a Scottish Broadsword blade of 31.1/2" length. The etched blade with twin three-quarter length fullers, bears the Victorian Crown over Anchor with RNAV entwined. The blade has very light rusting in parts in a few places, the scabbard is present though requires refurbishment. The hilt is in the Naval style with the same device in the cartouche, as on the blade also with RNAV present. The RNAV were formed in 1873 and disbanded in 1892, amid much outcry and public condemnation.
