Lot 747
EARLY STEIFF TEDDY BEAR
a large early Steiff Teddy Bear circa 1908, with elongated limbs, hump back and with black boot button eyes. With a swivel head, mohair body and black stitched nose, mouth and claws. Unmarked. 26ins (66cms) high
*This Teddy Bear was owned by Ellen Marston (1887-1971), the youngest of 10 children of a Victorian Industrialist John Marston who is best known as the founder of the Sunbeam Car/Motorcycle brand. The family understand she was given the Bear by a former boyfriend who she subsequently did not marry, it was therefore something of an embarrassment and spent much of it's life in various cupboards.
