A NAVAL BRIGADE TWO BAR QSA TO R PACEY HMS TERRIBLE. A Queens South Africa Medal with two bars, Tugela Heights and Relief of Ladysmith. Named to R Pacey Sto HMS Terrible. Robert Pacey signed on for 12 years duration in August 1898, having been born in July 1879 in Grantham Lincolnshire. He served on various ships including HMS Firequeen 2 and Hampshire, etc. Served during the Boer War on HMS Terrible 29/10/1899 until 24/10/1902. Gordons states Tugela Heights (274) issued to the ship. Relief of Ladysmith (292) awarded to the Officers and Men of HMS Terrible. The clasps are not confirmed on the medal roll. He joined the RFR in 1908, with the rank of Stoker 1st Class.
