An officers St John of Jerusalem in scm and enamel. British War & Victory Medals named to Capt P L Griggs.
Philip Leonard Griggs a native of Lambeth served in France with the Bucks Hussars. He was commissioned into the Suffolk Regt and then transferred to the Hampshire Regt. 225 Gipsy Road, West Norwood, in the 1911 Census.
He was wounded at Gallipoli on the 28th August 1915.
Twice Mentioned in Despatches on the 1/11/1916 and again on the 30/1/1919.
Entitled to a 1914/15 Star, he served in Egypt with the Bucks Hussars from 21/4/1915.
His MIC shows a SWB being awarded , his then address being 207 Rosendale Rd, W Dulwich.
He was admitted to County of London War Hospital in 1915, after being sent home from Gallipoli for treatment to Shrapnel Wounds.
