A 1914/15 Star and British War Medal named to Stk-1043 Pte J I Johnston R Fus.
John Irwin Johnston the son of the late John H Johnston of Dublin, was Killed in Action 19/11/1916 on the Somme. Aged 30 years old a member of the 10th Stockbrokers Battalion R Fusiliers, commemorated on the Theipval Memorial.
His MIC details show he served in F & F from the 31/7/1915. His Star was returned for amendment, with presumably a replacement being issued.
Officer in charge Infantry Records asks for authority re disposal of a 1914/15 Star 20/10/20. (Johnson not Johnston) apparently the reason for return.
