A French 1898 dated officers cavalry sabre, with ornate pierced basket guard. The clean straight single-edged 33.1/4" blade, marked on the rib with the following. Sabre d'Officer de Cavalerie M1896 3me Caille. Manuf d:Armes de Chat 1898. Ornate pommel and guard with hardwood grip, complete with a steel scabbard.
