AN INDIAN GUANTLET SWORD (PATA)
Also known as a Dandpatta, used by Rajputs and others with a Guantlet guard similar to European made weapons. Ornately embossed with flower form decoration, with inner bar grip and arm swivel bars present. Having a wide double-edged blade of 37.1/2", rivetted to the guard in close fitting mounts. Almost 50" overall length with Persian-Indian markings etc, also an attempt to copy the script in earlier European made blades.
