ENGLISH PROVINCIAL SCHOOL, 19th CENTURY `REDCLIFF CHURCH, BRISTOL`: ST MARY REDCLIFFE Inscribed with title, oil on canvas 53 x 71.5cm. * The church is depicted without its spire, which fell after a lightning strike in 1446. It was not rebuilt until 1872. It was described by Queen Elizabeth 1 as `the fairest, goodliest and most famous parish church in England`.
