RICHARD HAMILTON (1922-2011) POP ART POSTER - ROLLING STONES, SWINGEING LONDON 1967
an unusual lithograph poster designed by Richard Hamilton in 1967, Swingeing London. Marked on the back, ED912, Milano, Italia, No 810 of 1000. In a modern frame. Poster 69cms by 49cms.
*Hamilton created Swingeing London 67 in response to a commission by Edition ED912 in Milan, a distributor of art posters. The poster was made after his art dealer Robert Fraser was arrested and imprisoned on possession of heroin. In 1967 Fraser and Mick Jagger were arrested at a house party by Police and found guilty of possession of drugs. In response Hamilton designed this collage from Press cuttings, and the original design was purchased by the Tate.
