A KATANA.
A Japanese Katana brought home from WW11, with earlier Edo period blade fitted. Almost plain iron Tsuba having very light partial decoration evident. With two piercings for the Kozuka/Kogai originally, fitted with plain Fuchi and Kashira. Black cord bindings with ornate Menuki, wooden Saya with damaged brown leather covering. The blade with an almost full-length fuller of some 27.1/4" length, the Tang having been shortened with any signature now lost.
