A MADRAS HORSE ARTILLERY PRESENTATION SWORD.
A Prosser of London marked Madras Horse Artillery Officers 1821 pattern sword, with the owners initials on the blade. Steel three bar hilt with fishskin grip and wire present. The pipe-back blade of 31.1/4" with the East India Company crest and three cannons on a shield below. Madras Horse Artillery below with Prosser Maker London and the initials ATC in floral script. Complete with its steel scabbard, the fighting blade in very clean condition.
Alexander Todd Cadell (No496) was transferred from the East India Company to the Royal Artillery, when his regiment Madras Horse Artillery was disbanded in 1861.
