A SCOTTISH YEOMANRY MAMELUKE.
A William 1V Stirlingshire. Yeomanry Cavalry officers sword by Prosser of Charing Crofs,London. Sword Maker to the King. A 1796 pattern variant blade of 30" length in crisp condition, highly decorated with thistles and William 1V under a crown. Steel quillion and ivory grips, with Mameluke pattern steel scabbard with two ring mounts fitted.
By verbal provenance originally carried by an Officer in the Stirlingshire Yeomanry Cavalry during the Radical Disturbances of April 1820. Commanded by Sir Thomas Bradford whose sword sold in the last May Sale, here in Lawrences.
