A FRENCH DEVISME PARIS PISTOL
A 12mm caliber revolver by Devisme of Paris, six-shot with centre hammer. Plain two piece wooden grip with steel frame and buttplate, having a lanyard ring. Break lever at the front, allows the chamber and barrel to drop down for loading. Various stampings and markings including Devisme Bte, numbered 231 or 111. A Belgian Proof Mark, is on the single action revolver. 5.3/4" barrel and an overall length of 12.1/4".
Devisme stopped trading around 1870, well known to Confederate Forces to whom he supplied many revolvers. Also known for his Cased Pairs and Sporting Guns, including percussion and cartridge types.
